Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to various culinary skills and food preparation. Some topics include food safety and sanitation, nutrition, introductory culinary skills, and preparation of quick breads, yeast breads, eggs, and dairy. This will also be an introduction to classic knife cuts, mother sauces, soups, basic cooking methods, terminology, equipment, measurements, culinary math, and ingredients. Students will demonstrate how to select different herbs and spices to enhance the flavoring of foods. Students will also explore foods from different regions and cultures.

*After Completion: National Educators institute will issue a "Certificate of Completion" for 45 hours of Professional Development.
